Snack-lovers, listen up! Wegmans has issued a recall of a favorite snack. Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches are being recalled due to a potentially deadly health hazard. It’s always scary when a new food recall is issued, especially if it affects you. There seems to be a lack of oversight when it comes to ensuring that the food that New Yorkers eat is safe. There are constant recalls due to potential health threats.
There was recently a recall of approximately 143,416 pounds of ready-to-eat lunch meat. The bologna products contained meat or poultry source materials that were not declared on the product labels. In June, there was a recall of 44,550 pounds of shrimp.

In 2024, there were 296 total recalls, which is slightly down from 2023, according to Food Safety Net Services. There were 1,392 people that got sick from recalled food last year. The number of hospitalizations doubled in 2024 to 487, up from 230 in 2023, and deaths were 19 in 2024.
Popular Snack Item Recall Issued By Wegmans
Wegmans is notifying its shoppers of a recall of a popular snack item sold at the store. Mondelez Global LLC is recalling its individually wrapped packs of Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches. The products may be mislabeled as the Cheese variety, resulting in an undeclared peanut allergen. The number of children and adults estimated to have a peanut allergy is 6.2 million, per FoodAllergy.org.
