The Ford GT Just Joined A Long List Of Ford 2025 Safety Recalls
Ford has issued a veritable tsunami of recalls through the first half of 2025. There have been a large number of them, and many of them have involved a large number of vehicles. About the only Ford vehicle we don’t remember seeing pop up in the recent recalls is the Ford GT, Ford’s rear mid-engine supercar homage to the brand’s famous Le Mans cars of years past, which was very nearly a Mustang-branded vehicle like the current Mustang GTD.

Alas, that has now changed. Even the Ford GT is on the list of Ford vehicles experiencing a safety recall in 2025 with a new recall affecting the supercar’s 2017 model year. It’s not a big recall, but it’s part of the recall saga that is 2025. And to make matters worse, it addresses a previous recall that was performed.

The Most Recalled Ford Of The Last 10 Years
We’ll give you three guesses which Ford has seen the most recalls since 2015, but you’ll only need one.
Ford’s Recall For The 2017 Ford GT
Ford’s recall corrects an incorrect repair performed under a previous recall for the Ford GT. According to the NHTSA paperwork, the GT’s rear wing valve block may leak hydraulic fluid. The leaked fluid could increase the fire risk in the presence of ignition. Ford recalled the 2017 GT for the issue initially back in 2018 but found a recurrence of the problem.
The repair requires updates to the vehicle’s dynamic control module and replaces the rear wing check valve. Ford will perform the recall free of charge. While some of this year’s recalls have affected more than one million vehicles, this recall is a wee bit smaller. Only two 2017 Ford GT vehicles were affected.
Ford plans to notify both GT owners about the recall with letters mailed out on August 7, 2025. The owners can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 regarding the recall. Ford’s reference number for this recall is “25S74.”

Ford Has Recalled More Vehicles Than Any Other Manufacturer In 2025
Ford
As of this writing, Ford has issued 88 safety recalls through the first half of 2025. How? Well, the largest culprit has been electrical systems in vehicles, which account for 21 of the 88 recalls. The second-highest was “back over protection,” which has accounted for some of Ford’s largest recalls. Powertrain recalls were the third-highest category, accounting for 10 more.

Let’s put that number of safety recalls into perspective. According to the NHTSA’s database, Ford’s 88 recalls so far this year account for 39% of the recalls the automotive body has recorded thus far in 2025. Ford has by far the highest number of recalls among all auto manufacturers, and it’s not even close. Moreover, the year is only half over at this point.
The next highest car manufacturer is Stellantis, with 18 recalls so far in 2025, meaning Ford has issued nearly five times as many recalls as its closest competitor. Ford has issued more recalls this year than Stellantis, Volkswagen, General Motors, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW … combined.

Remember Those Mustangs That Got Recalled? Ford Needs Them Again
A small number of 2022 and 2023 Mustangs are being recalled (again) to fix a problem with the power steering module.
Recall headlines are not hurting Ford’s sales, though. Ford sales increased 13.4% year over year in Q2 and 6.3% during the first half of 2025. Ford has been providing employee pricing to everyone. That promotion is ending, unfortunately, but certain Ford models still offer some sweet financing deals.
