Stanley-branded travel mugs recalled after burn incidents: Health Canada
Stanley-branded travel mugs, have been recalled due to a burn hazard stated Health Canada on Thursday.
As of Dec. 12, Stanley has received three reports of incidents in Canada, including one burn injury. In the U.S. 16 incidents were reported, two of those reported burn injuries.
The joint recall with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and PMI WW Brands dba Stanley1913 says the recall applies to the ‘Switchback’ and ‘Trigger Action’ model of Stanley travel mugs.
According to Health Canada, the issue is with the threads on the lid of the mug, which shrink when exposed to heat and torque. This “can cause the lids to unexpectedly detach from the mug during use, posing a risk of burn injury to consumers,” stated Health Canada.
