Ford Recalls 850,000 Of Its Best Sellers

Ford has issued another recall covering a huge swath of the brand’s bestsellers, and a few Lincoln products to boot. All told, the manufacturer has recalled 850,318 cars, SUVs, and pickup trucks. The recall encapsulates the fuel pressure pumps in these vehicles, which can fail and cause mechanical issues. Owners could experience stalls, poor performance, and more as a result.

Ford Recalls Bronco, Explorer, And More

The recall states 2021–2023 Ford Bronco, Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, F-250 Super Duty, F-350 Super Duty, F-450 Super Duty, F-550 Super Duty, model year 2021–2022 Lincoln Navigators, Ford Mustangs, Ford F-150s, and 2022 Expeditions are all subject to recall. The filings indicate that the car’s low-pressure fuel pumps can fail due to contamination of the jet pump. Around 10%, or roughly 85,000 cars could suffer from the defect. Ford says loss of fuel pressure and flow from the low-pressure pump can be due to internal contamination of the jet pump, especially when the car is low on fuel. “Reduced fuel pump internal clearances that result in an increase of internal friction and sensitivity to vapor lock.”

Ford discovered the issue in Spemtember 2022 through an increase in warranty claims and parts for the part on 2021-2022 units. Though ford concluded an internal investigation into the contamination issue in July 2023, the NHTSA opened a preliminary evaluation into the fuel systems a year later after receiving complaints surrounding power loss in Ford Broncos. A year after that, in May 2025, Ford took another look at the warranty claim rate again, which again led to examining the supplier, and the June 30 recall once the brand realized the issue was occurring again.

How Will Ford Fix Recall 25S75?

Lincoln

Right now, Ford says it doesn’t have a remedy for recall 25S75. The automaker says that owners of the above vehicles will be notified once it has prepared a fix. The recall text suggests the issue is more likely to occur when fuel levels are low, but this is just a guess. It’s probably best to heed the recall and keep your car topped off if you own one of the above.

TopSpeed’s Take

Mecum

It’s never fun when an automaker has a recall and no fix for it. What’s worse, Ford has a huge number of open recalls right now as it works to address its quality control processes and build quality following a mandate from CEO Jim Farley a few years back. For now, owners can only sit tight and wait.
