Mercedes-Benz has issued six recalls this year involving twelve models and affecting a total of 2,812 units.
In a big development, Mercedes-Benz has issued recalls for four models in India. According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) recall website, the German marque has recalled the GLC, SL55, S-Class, and EQS sedan. The latest recall dated 18 June 2025 affects a total of 30 units.
All four models list fire hazards as the primary reason for this action. Off-late, Mercedes-Benz has issued frequent recalls in India. The luxury carmaker has already issued six recalls this year. In the USA, Mercedes has reportedly recalled around 93,000 vehicles this week alone.
The SIAM website states Mercedes has discovered that certain fuse boxes may not have been properly reworked. This could lead to failures in systems connected to the fuse, potentially causing the vehicle to lose propulsion without warning. Additionally, restraint systems and the instrument cluster may be affected, increasing the risk of a crash and injury. In such cases, there is also a potential risk of a thermal incident in the vehicle.
Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic
A total of 16 EQS sedans are affected by this issue, along with nine S-Class models (including Maybach), three GLCs, and two AMG SLs. As per standard procedure, Mercedes is expected to reach out to the owners of these vehicles to arrange service appointments and carry out the repairs at no cost.
Mercedes-Benz other recalls in 2025
Earlier in March this, Mercedes recalled a few models due to another potential fire hazard caused due to sporadic overload of the control unit of the high-voltage starter generator. Rest of the recalls were due to a software glitch in the ECU and a missing warning label regarding the automatic front passenger airbag shutoff. A total of 2812 units have been recalled by Mercedes in India this year out of which 2543 units of the E-Class have been recalled alone.
