Costco Canada recalled many items and you could get a full refund

Costco Canada has notified shoppers of several recalls this year, so if you own any of the affected products, you could be eligible for a full refund.

Costco Canada members are being urged to check their purchases in case their items are part of a recall. These affected products have been recalled for various safety concerns that could pose serious health risks, including air conditioners with a risk of mould, a baby highchair that may cause entrapment, and a cooler with a tow handle with the potential risk of fingertip amputation.

These recalls are still active, and many of the affected items were also sold by other retailers. Although these recalls were announced this year, some products were sold as far back as 2016, so it’s worth checking if these recalled items are still in your home. Some manufacturers are offering free repairs or replacement parts, while Costco Canada is providing a full refund on most of the recalled items.

Midea

Recall date: June 17

Costco Canada is recalling two brands of air conditioners due to the potential risk of mould. The recall affects customers who purchased a Danby brand U-Shaped Window Air Conditioner from Costco.ca between June 2021 and August 2024, as well as Frigidaire U-Shaped Window Air Conditioners sold on Costco.ca between April 2024 and Feb. 2025.

According to the recall, pooled water in the air conditioners can fail to drain quickly enough, which could lead to mould growth. Mould exposure could lead to respiratory issues and other infections.

The recalled Danby air conditioners include model numbers DAC080B7IWDB-6 and DAC100B6IWDB-6, and the Frigidaire air conditioners include model numbers GHWQ085WD1 and GHWQ125WD1. If you find that you own the recalled product, immediately stop using it and contact supplier Midea America Corp. at 1 (888) 345-0256 or visit their website. The company is offering a free repair kit. Costco members are eligible for a full refund. Health Canada also issued a nationwide recall for additional models by Midea.

bblüv

Recall date: June 6

Customers who purchased the bblüv Gröw Convertible Baby Highchair at a Costco warehouse between June 2024 and Sept. 2024 are being asked to check if their product is part of a recall.

Company Groupe bblüv is recalling model B0179 due to an entrapment hazard. As of May 14, the company has received one report of an incident in Canada, but no injuries. The company is urging customers to immediately stop using the product and contact them at 1 (855) 808-2636 or [email protected] for a replacement part so you can safely use the highchair. Costco members can return the product at a Costco warehouse for a full refund.

Health Canada

Recall date: May 2

Costco Canada is recalling the Ninja Foodi pressure cooker after reports that the pressure-cooking lids can be opened while the cooker is pressurized, which could “allow hot contents to escape and result in severe burns.” The recall also includes replacement lids purchased from SharkNinja.

The recall affects model numbers OP305, OP305CCO, and OP305CO that were sold at Costco warehouses and online from March 2019 to Feb. 2025. Customers who own the affected item should discard the current pressure-cooking lid and visit the company’s website for a free replacement lid. You also have the option to return the recalled pressure cooker to any Costco warehouse.

LG

Recall date: Feb. 27

If you purchased an electric range from Costco, you might want to double-check what kind, as the company is recalling certain models of LG Slide-in and Freestanding Electric Ranges. Along with Health Canada, LG announced a voluntary recall as front-mounted knobs on affected ranges “can be activated by accidental contact by humans or pets, posing a fire hazard.”

The company has received reports of incidents where the range was accidentally activated. There have also been reports of fires and minor injuries. The recalled models were sold from May 2016 to June 2024.

Customers who have this affected should contact LG directly for a free warning label and placement instructions.

Igloo 90 Qt Flip and Tow Rolling Coolers

Health Canada

Recall date: Feb. 14

Igloo Products Corp. announced that it was recalling certain models of the Igloo 90 Qt Flip and Tow Rolling Coolers. According to the company, the cooler’s tow handle can pinch consumers’ fingertips against the cooler, posing a risk of fingertip amputation and crushing hazards.

The model numbers included in the recall are 34527, 34841, 49870, and 34993/35065. Health Canada states that there have been no reports of injuries in Canada as of Feb. 3. Costco warehouses sold these coolers between Jan. 1, 2019 and Feb. 12, 2025.

If your cooler is part of the recall, you can get a free replacement tow handle, or you can take it to a Costco warehouse for a full refund.

Canadian Tire has also issued recalls for several products this year.
