Stellantis: Major brands, global reach, challenges for automaker

Explore the history of Stellantis, the automotive giant formed in 2021 through the merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and PSA Group.

Six auto companies, including Ford, MW and Chrysler, have announced recalls as we head into the holiday weekend.

Chrysler is recalling more than 250,000 vehicles over airbag issues, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Chrysler vehicles with airbag issues

Chrysler is recalling 250,651 2022-2025 Pacifica and Voyager vehicles. The right and left side curtain airbags may have insufficient pressure retention from improperly sealed seams. An airbag with insufficient pressure retention increases the risk of ejection and injury during a crash.

Dealers will inspect and replace the side curtain airbags, as necessary, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed on June 30. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler’s numbers for this recall are 06C, 54C, 55C.

∎ Chrysler is also recalling 1,689 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles. The blower motor may fail, causing the defrosting and defogging system to become inoperative.

Dealers will inspect and replace the blower motor, as necessary free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on July 8. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler’s recall number is 49C.

Ford recalls Aviator vehicles

Ford is recalling 132,914 2020-2025 Aviator vehicles. The rear door window bars and C-pillar trim may have insufficient adhesive bonding, which can allow the trim to detach from the vehicle.

Dealers will repair or replace C-pillar appliques and window division bars, free of charge. Owner notification letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed on July 28. BMW recalls vehicles for software issue

BMW is recalling 70,852 2022-2025 i4, 2022-2024 IX, 2023-2024 I7, and 2024 I5 vehicles. The electric drive motor software may shut down the high-voltage system, causing a loss of drive power.

The electric drive motor software will be updated over-the-air (OTA) or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 5, 2025. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

GM recalls Silverados over fire issues

General Motors is recalling 62,468 2019-2024 Chevrolet Silverado Medium Duty 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD vehicles. The brake pressure sensor assembly may leak brake fluid into the brake pressure switch and cause a short circuit. An electrical short in the brake pressure switch can overheat the circuit and increase the risk of a fire while driving or parked.

Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will replace the brake pressure switch wire harness, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed on July 28. Second letters will be mailed once the remedy is available. Kia recalls Niro EVs

Kia America is recalling 11,327 2020-2022 Niro EV vehicles. The circuit board for the rearview camera may become damaged and cause the rearview camera image not to display.

Subaru is recalling 2,938 2025 Forester vehicles. The child seat anchor bolts may have been improperly tightened, allowing the bolts to come loose.
