Weaver Nut Recalls Chocolate Over Milk Allergen Risk
FDA issues recall for Weaver Nut chocolate products
Weaver Nut Company has recalled specific semi-sweet chocolate nonpareils due to the risk of undeclared milk allergens. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall on 18 June 2025 through an official press release.
The Pennsylvania-based company initiated the recall after a wholesale customer complaint led to laboratory confirmation of milk presence. The recall affects chocolate nonpareils with white and Christmas-coloured seeds that were distributed nationwide.

Company warns of health risk to allergy sufferers
Weaver Nut stated, “Weaver Nut Company, Inc. is recalling the following chocolate products with specific lot codes, due to potential undeclared milk allergens. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the impacted products and Lot’s listed below.”
Consumers who are allergic or highly sensitive to milk face increased health risks if they consume the affected chocolates.
Distribution and detection of the allergen issue
The recalled chocolate products were distributed nationwide across grocery and retail outlets. The FDA said the issue was first identified through a customer complaint regarding misaligned shipment specifications.
Subsequent lab testing confirmed the presence of milk proteins in products labelled as milk-free. No illnesses have been reported as of the recall’s announcement date.
Weaver Nut responds with immediate action
The company described the recall as precautionary and committed to consumer safety. Weaver Nut’s Angela Nolt confirmed that the company is taking all necessary steps to protect its customers.
Consumers are urged not to consume the listed items if they have a milk allergy or are buying for someone with one. Affected products should be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund or discarded.
Refunds will be issued regardless of packaging status, including opened or unopened items.
Product safety and allergen disclosure remain top priority
Milk is one of nine major allergens the FDA requires to be declared on food labelling. Failing to declare allergens can result in severe health complications for sensitive individuals.
The FDA and Weaver Nut are continuing to investigate the incident to determine the cause of the undeclared milk. They will also monitor for any illness reports and update consumers accordingly.
