Ford Drops Four More Recalls, Tells Over 2,300 Owners To Stop Driving Now

Some 2025 F-Series Super Duty trucks might lose the ability to brake

  • Ford is recalling more than 335,000 vehicles due to four separate issues.
  • The most serious involves brake failure on the F-Series Super Duty pickups.
  • The Aviator, Bronco, Explorer, and Mustang Mach-E were also recalled.

Ford’s quality woes are reaching legendary status as the automaker has announced a staggering 76 recalls this year alone. That’s more than Mercedes, General Motors, Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen, and FCA US (Stellantis) combined.

It’s a staggering figure, and now, four new recalls have been added to the ever-growing list. The first is a serious safety issue that involves a sudden loss of brake function, which has sparked a do not drive order.

Super Duty: Brake Failure Recall

According to the government, 2,345 Super Duty trucks – including the 2025MY F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 – have a brake booster that might be missing a pushrod retaining spring. This can “allow the pushrod to disconnect from the brake pedal and cause a sudden loss of brake function.”

Ford is aware of two vehicles exhibiting the problem and an “investigation determined that the retain spring operation for both vehicles was performed by an operator who was new to the role and in training.” That employee’s mistake has now led to a significant issue, with owners being advised not to drive their trucks until the “presence of the brake booster pushrod retain spring” has been confirmed.

Mustang Mach-E: When the Park Button Just Doesn’t Work

Recall number two targets the 2025 Mustang Mach-E. 276 of them have a park rod that may fail to engage when the vehicle is placed into park. This means the electric crossover can unexpectedly rollaway. The issue is being blamed on a “burr on the vehicle’s park rod resulting from a damaged tool used during its manufacturing.” This burr can prevent the park rod cam from engaging the park pawl.

Owner notifications will go out next month and customers will be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealership, where the transmission park rod assembly will be replaced free of charge.

Keep in mind, this is the second recall of the day for the Mustang Mach-E. As we reported earlier, nearly 197,000 vehicles in the U.S. and another 100,000 abroad are being recalled due to a battery issue that could prevent the doors from unlocking.

Bronco Doors: A Little Too Easy for Kids to Open

Chugging right along, recall number three involves four-door versions of the 2025 Bronco. 27,768 of the SUVs have a left-hand rear door that can potentially be opened from inside, even when the child safety lock is engaged.

The issue is being chalked up to “dimensional interference” among inner door components. This can cause a “distortion within the child lock latch mechanism, leading to malfunction.” To address the problem, dealers will inspect and replace the rear door latch, as necessary.

Explorer and Aviator: Second-Row Seats

The fourth and final recall for today – so far, at least – involves 304,662 crossovers including the 2020-2025 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator. They have a second-row seat that may move unexpectedly, potentially during a crash.

The government says the vehicles may have a second-row folding seat bezel that may have been incorrectly installed. This can result in the switch intermittently binding or becoming stuck in the depressed position. If this occurs, the seat could unexpectedly unlatch, fold, or slide.

The automaker became aware of the issue in April after getting reports of “intermittent folding and sliding forward of second-row seats while driving on 2022 model year Aviator vehicles.” This sparked an investigation, which found approximately 100 reports of unrequested second-row seat movement on Explorers and Aviators.

Customers can take their vehicle to a dealership, where the second-row seat switch will be inspected. If there’s a problem, the bezel around the switch will be replaced.
